The Stray Owls released Billing Luna / Gravel Road Castle on Santa Rosa Records, August 24th, 2018.
Miraculously plucked from the ashes of a catastrophic fire — the rural North Carolina fuzz-folk band known as the Stray Owls, return better than ever with their Billing Luna / Gravel Road Castle single, a masterful two-track follow-up to their 2017 album, A Series of Circles.
“Billing Luna” starts off with layers of off-center emotion — grasping for something that’s just out of reach, before it finishes off with “Gravel Road Castle”, a fuzzy ode to the the great instrumentalists who’ve come before.
“Things fall apart. Bandmates move to different towns. Houses catch on fire. But sometimes they fall back together again.” – Stray Owls
If you’re in North Carolina, be sure to catch the Stray Owls’ release show happening tomorrow night at a very cool venue in Durham called the Pinhook. They will be playing with the alternative band, Regina Hexaphone. Jerry Kee is the drummer for both bands.
The Billing Luna / Gravel Road Castle Cassette will be available in our Cassette Shop later today. You can also buy the digital album on their Bandcamp. Also, be sure to give the boys a follow on Spotify,
