Porch Lights

Porch Lights—the creation of Corey Crellin—is an ambient indie-folk project based out of San Francisco, California.

Bright Boy, Porch Lights latest album, was released July 5th, 2017.

Take a listen.

Emily Golightly was on background vocals for that last one.

And now, here is “Brown Horse”—an emotional melancholy jam.

We hope to hear more from Porch Lights soon!

Sir Kn8 and Hila The Killa

SIR KN8 and HILA THE KILLA are an independent hip-hop duo out of NYC.

If dark introspective rap with a tinge of humor is what you’re after, then look no further, SIR KN8 and HILA THE KILLA have got what you need.

Do we only live once? Do we even exist at all? These are just a couple of the philosophical concepts SIR KN8 and HILA THE KILLA ponder in “YLALO”.

Human Heat

Minneapolis-based, Human Heat will release All Is Too Much tomorrow, September 15th.

The album was mostly recorded in Schaaf’s home studio, and was mixed and mastered by Zach Hanson (Bon Iver, The Staves) in Fall Creek, Wisconsin.

Here are two wonderfully eerie tracks off their upcoming album.

Human Heat has also just announced a fall tour in support of the new album. The tour will include shows in St. Paul, Chicago, Philadelphia, Brooklyn and more.

All Is Too Much is available to pre-order now on Bandcamp!

Mike Mangione & The Kin

Mike Mangione & The Kin are a fusion folk and blues outfit rooted by brothers, Mike and Thomas Mangione.

“The song is based out of the classic question of who am I, what am I and where am I going? Roots music has a long tradition in dealing with either running toward or away from light/darkness. This song swims in the same waters.” — Mike Mangione

Here is their latest single, “Riding Down”—an infectious jam inspired by Howling Wolf and other blues legends.

They’re set to release the full album—I’ve Seen the Stars, on October 20th 2017.

Stay tuned.

Throwback Thursday: Whole Wide World

When I was a young boy, my mama said to me, “there’s only one girl in the world for you and she probably lives in Tahiti.”

I’d go the whole wide world, go the whole wide world just to find her.

Or maybe she’s in the Bahamas, where the Caribbean Sea is blue, weeping in the tropical moonlit night, because nobody’s talking about you.

Here is “Whole Wide World” by Wreckless Eric.
