The Lost Interview of Time Robb

Time Robb is an alternative folk artist from Australia serving up some fuzzy lo-fi darkness infused with elements of grunge, dope, and existential angst.

While abroad I became enamored with Robb’s late night number, Daffodil. So, I reached out and interviewed the man.

It was the finest interview I had conducted to date. I was elated.

We talked of the creative process, philosophical matters, and heartache. It was fucking beautiful.

However, the heartless bitch of procrastination reared her ugly head and there the interview sat in my phone for about eight months as I gallivanted across seven countries. Then one night as I sat pounding beers, the unthinkable happened. My phone slipped from my fingertips and met its fate.

I tried everything to resuscitate the poor thing, but the SIM card had been destroyed. The interview was lost. Here is what ensued:

Jesse: Hey man, I’ve got some shit news. The phone I used for our interview is no more. I thought I’d be able to retrieve it, but no luck. Super bummed.

Robb: Oh man what a hilarious series of misfortune. I had the messages on my phone still but I just got a new phone and sold my old one yesterday afternoon!

Jesse: Ahh fuck, are you serious?

Quite a coincidence… But to numb the pain I will now play for you Robb’s latest release, a fare-thee-well of sorts bleeding with ruminations of heartbreak. Here is, “So Long, Marie”.

“Yeah she knows that I don’t play the game and even if i did I’d still be calling her name.” – Time Robb

LLORIENT.

LLORIENT. delivers a dreamy soundscape steeped in teenage angst with their first EP, Who?. With slow drum beats and soft vocals, the Melbourne based duo immediately set the mood with the first track, “same”, which serves as a brooding warning about the naivety of young love.

Melancholy disguised as nostalgia flows through the song like honey, thick and sickly sweet, with lyrics lamenting a love that feels like a “remorseless game”.

A sense of betrayal shines through lyrics such as “too young, too nice to know that she had lied to you” and “you don’t know if she feels the same”, causing anger to mix with an almost tangible feeling of longing.

The song delicately reminds listeners that love can be cruel to those who are still growing, and, for those already in their older years, it serves as an invitation to return to a time when little made sense and everything bordered on disaster.

The two sixteen-year-olds behind the artistry of LLORIENT. describe their sound as bedroom music, an appropriate fit for a band that reminds you of days spent hiding in your room with headphones glued to year ears. Same, with all its strife, it fits that narrative perfectly.

Digitalia Records

(The) Digitalia Records (Band) is a fatalistic trio consisting of Eureka Brown, multi-instrumentalist Elmo Townsend and percussion ex·tra·or·di·naire Beat Sinclair.

The 2017 Digitalia Records debut O Utopia is out now on super limited Hologroove vinyl, hand etched by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science (Star Wars). The Hologroove LP, released May 1st on black 33’s, is their first physical release to date.

It is some fatalistic lo-fi stuff. Groovy shit fit for the living and the dead.

Now, without further ado, here is Digitalia Records’ “We’re All Gonna Die”. Listen and dig because sooner or later we’re all gonna die, it’s just a matter of time.

Jessamyn Orchard

I’ve been infatuated with The Cranberries for as long as I can remember.

Their beautiful harmonic melodies and hypnotic soundscapes seems to take one on a dark sonic journey through the cosmic world of the inner eye. Removes one at least for a little while from the torturous angst that seems to creep out from the shadows of our supposed reality.

Here is Jessamyn Orchard’s breathtaking tribute to Dolores O’Riordan.

I know you’ll dig it and find it a worthy homage to a person who had such an impact on the evolution of music and also on so many young lives.

We’re just happy someone recorded such a tender and heartfelt piece of music.

TyC ft Curly Chuck

TyC comes from a diverse background and is really beginning to establish himself after years of honing his craft.

“GET DOWN” is a new take on a vintage hip-hop sound.

The jam features Cleveland’s very own Curly Chuck who is currently making waves in the underground scene. It’s an electronically driven anthem that infuses the record with a raw urban edge.

Both TyC and Curly Chuck are both quickly ascending from the depths of the underground world.

The music video was directed by Jacob Caron.
