Alternative folk artist, Billy TwangMan, draws from a deep well of introspective meanderings. “My Dear Darling” is a gritty lo-fi track that immediately draws the listener into its moody, atmospheric world.

The distorted soundscape creates a sense of easy tension that is maintained throughout the track, while the sparse percussion and haunting vocals complement the otherworldly feel.

Despite its minimalistic approach, the song conveys a sense of raw emotion that is utterly captivating. The track’s experimental nature and unconventional structure add to its overall sense of cryptic beauty.

Oinker Doinkers

“Black Mold” is a freak folk diamond in the rough of psychedelia from the underworld of the Oinker Doinkers. An ensemble known as the happiest, and perhaps the grittiest band on earth.

The laidback and relaxed track is a damn slow burner about the downward spiral of a life gone awry. A self-deprecating tune about poverty and the will to survive. An absolute dandy.

The winsome track is about family. The emotionally charged anthem speaks to a deeper placed filled with emotion and heartfelt sentiment.

bellhoss sits in a lucid purgatory between underground folk and bedroom lo-fi post-punk, writing sad songs for people who keep secrets.

The project specializes in puppy birthday parties (alongside run-of-the-mill sad dog birthday clowns) and government acronyms. An instant classic.

Ames Harding

“Peacock” celebrates male flamboyance, contrasting flirting to the mating ritual of tropical birds.

The song is a sultry and seductive indie rock track that oozes with sensuality and swagger. From the very first note, the listener is drawn in by the smooth, groovy guitar riffs and the sultry, smooth vocals that weave in and out of the soundscape.

Zook is a Nashville-based freak folk artist dishing up down-home vibrations that are dripping with elements of psychedelia and folk music.

The Veldt

Identical twin brothers, Danny and Daniel Chavis, have been making transcendental music for about three decades. Indeed, the project was formed in 1986, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Meena

The indie group, Meena, is from Manchester, and dishes up an ethereal soundscape filled with heavy vibrations and radical lyricisms. A driving track that will put one on the edge of their seat.

The blurry sound is a reflection of the artist. A true peek inside a dark place that few have ever laid eyes on before. Now, sit back, and enjoy, we’ve got a long road ahead my friend.

There’s something about a blurry shoegaze song that just hits you right in the chest. It’s a genre that’s all about emotion, and the way it’s able to convey heartache and melancholy is truly unmatched.

I had a dream the other night that I was listening to a moody shoegaze track, and it was like the music was speaking directly to me. The vocals were so raw and melodic, and they just resonated with me in a way that few songs ever have.

As I listened to “Kenzie” by the courts, I found myself getting lost in the melodic layers, and couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the emotion pouring out of the music. It was filled with a sense of sadness and longing, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that the track was somehow speaking to me on a deeper level.

The more I listened, the more I felt like I was being transported to another world, one where the music was the only thing that mattered. And in that moment, all of my troubles and worries seemed to fade away, replaced by a sense of peace.

Jacob King

Jacob King is a singer-songwriter and exceptional guitarist out of Buffalo, NY.

His vocals quiver and shake, and simply bring a calm feeling of antiquated hope to the listener.

His aesthetic is quite vintage. And sounds as if it was recorded in the basement of the Brill Building in the latter half of the sixties.

Markus Nikolaus

The quintessential underground sound could be summed up by the raucous vibrations of Markus Nikolaus. But, would not one wish to hear more?

The vocals are oh so poignant, the aesthetic is gritty, and the beat is just to die for. What more could a rock and roller wish for?

The track is rugged, yet embodies a sleek and relaxed sound, a sound that evokes emotions of the darker, more unique quadrant of indie rock.

Have you ever been so very upset at her that you wear her favorite dress, just to make her mad? Well my fair-weather friends, that’s what this song entails. And we’re not so sure you’ll ever regret wearing it.

The underground dream is alive and well with this particular track. So much so in fact, we feel it belongs within a David Lynch film.

Indeed, she emerged from the dark waters with fragments of melodies in her head. And over the aeons, the melodies slowly took form and have at last reached their final stage.

And lucky for you, she lives on to share these melodies with you.

We don’t cover many cover tracks, but a unique cover that we feel may supersede the original, is always welcome on our platform.

This lo-fi underground version seems to beckon to a deeper place, and is riddled with a downtrodden emotion of happy sadness. A true work of art in our lowly opinion.

Hieronymus Harry returns to the blog with a jester-like yet down-home fancy. The track waxes and wanes, but in the end, the folk-laden grandeur of the single shines bright.

The track is a hypnotic – spellbound infusion of twangy guitar solos and euphoric wails that explore the mystic meanderings of fulfillment and oneness with the cosmos.
