At Mission Dolores | Grand Canyon | Jason Andrew | Indigo Bunting | Old Pup [Spotify Exclusive]

At Mission Dolores

At Mission Dolores is a psychedelic indie-pop outfit based out of Kamloops, BC.

Their latest album is an eclectic collection of dreamy lo-fi rock jams of an infectious nature. Here is “Uh Huh”, a radical track off this very album.

The outfit recorded the LP with Jordan Koop at the notorious Noise Floor studio.

The band is also planning a tour throughout Western Canada this year.

Grand Canyon

In an era of digitally created and beat driven music, Grand Canyon is the antithesis of mainstream music. The six-piece outfit draws from classic influences such as The Byrds, Warren Zevon, and Fleetwood Mac.

With Le Grand Cañon, Grand Canyon displays a masterpiece filled with sweaty, romantic tales, complete with late night yearnings fueled by emotionally charged chord patterns.

“Shangri La-La Land” sounds like it was recorded in a dark and smokey cantina in El Paso, Texas.

Grand Canyon’s semi-self-titled debut album is out now via Bodan Kuma Recordings.

Jason Andrew

Jason Andrew is an artist out of San Diego, California. His debut album All In Good Time is a montage of personal stories told through song.

Andrew’s track “Cut It Down” is a an americana masterpiece infused with layers of beautiful acoustic instrumentation.

Everything on the record was written, performed, recorded and produced by Jason Andrew.

“Cut It Down” is the first song on Jason’s album All In Good Time which was just recently released in December. It’s a beautiful work of folk art.

Indigo Bunting

Indigo Bunting is an avant garde art-pop trio out of Austin, Texas.

“Reading Wrong” is a powerful indie-pop track infested with whimsical vibrations of an extraterrestrial nature.

Using auditory alchemy, the outfit transforms a Scientologist mythos into wonderfully-wrought melody that transforms into a terrifying trip.

“let me die from having being drunk on indigo skies, my liver…overflowing with stars.” ― Sanober Khan

Old Pup

Madison-based Old Pup is a psychedelic Americana outfit with a love for lap steel, singing saw, and surrealism.

The project was created by multi-instrumentalist Will Hansen, who plays all the instruments on the recordings.

“Alexandria” is a magnificent track off Old Pup’s debut album “JunkDrawer Daydreams”.

Old Pup’s full length debut album is out March 1st, 2019.

Electronic Indie Showcase Ft Bonobo, Highschool Jacob, and Sion [New Spotify Playlist]

In the past, we’ve perhaps overlooked the independent electronic scene a bit. Most of the music we feature is probably somewhere between more alternative folk, pop, and rock. However, I’d like for this to change somewhat, not only as a musician, but as a listener, and independent music outlet as well.

Here are three very cool electronic jams we absolutely love, and they just so happen to also be the first three tracks kicking off our brand new electronic playlist streaming on Spotify. I hope you dig. And please, give the playlist a follow ya filthy animals.

Bonobo

Perhaps one of the more affluent artists we’ve featured on the blog, Bonobo exhibits an expansive, and truly unique multi-instrumental palette with his latest electronic project.

And now, here is the tantalizing tonic track entitled “Ibrik” from ‘fabric presents Bonobo’.

We were thrilled when Bonobo’s new song hit our inbox. The soundscape is an unlikely fusion of the contemporary age of plastic opulence and an ancient song that’s slowly fading away.

In closing, “Ibrik” is an intimate display of delicate beats, soaring melodies and sweeping atmospheric sounds that articulates the void between popular western beats and the mournful cry of middle-eastern melodies.

Highschool Jacob

Highschool Jacob is an indie electronic-pop artist based out of Los Angeles.

HSJ creates catchy melodies of indie origin, tells enthralling tales of tall proportions, and makes heartwarming music in an attempt to defy the worn out and generic canals of popular music.

Here is his new radical electronic indie jam, “Sunrise I Fall”.

There is an air of esoteric beauty infused into the song’s fabric, an air that keeps the listener on the edge of their seat.

The vocals of HSJ seem to melt into the iridescent soundscape of vidid pinks and blues. It’s beautifully intricate, yet wonderfully relaxed at the same time. A true indie gem amidst a wasteland of mimicry and boastful voices.

Sion

Here is a heartwarming note from Scion: “I made ‘Fall’ one summer night in 2018. This song is one of three I’m releasing today and they all feel part of my soul.

Fall is about surrounding and falling in love with each moment of every day. I feel like the word fall is looked as negative, but I look it as a positive. Being able to fall in love with every moment, everything you are doing, everything you are feeling to me takes a lot of courage and strength.

And in doing so you will feel the deep connection between everyone and everything in this world. When I made this song I had to really let go, surrender, and really feel everything. So when listening I hope it will remind you that it’s okay to surrender and that it’s not showing any weakness, but shows the opposite, strength. It’s okay to feel.”

Scion’s minimal electronic masterpiece “Fall” is now streaming everywhere music is available. Give the artist a follow on Spotify and if you enjoyed these three tracks, then you will perhaps like our new playlist embedded below.

[a narrative for] Information by SoundBath

“We’ve got some lovely information, I’ll give you a very fine price.”

The man blinked rapidly, thrice.

He seemed exceptionally brainy, for his manner was strangely uncanny. He wasn’t what I would call zany, but great disdain did he noticeably ooze.

Like others, he thought I was odd, still he gave me a courteous nod.

So in search of my goal did I depart, but before I could leave, the man came running.

“I can help you I believe… Information, you can get. You must now open your mind, and get to Tula, quick.”

So to Tula I went, in search of a song I so desired.

The winds they did blow eerily, but I felt that the day could be more dire.

There were stalls selling guitars and seashells in many shades.

People were scattered from many trades

I was greeted by a peculiar lady. She seemed to be rather beautiful. But I wondered if she was at all very dutiful.

Before I could open my mouth, she shouted, “For you, I have a note!”

“But how did you know?” I asked.

“Do you want it or not?” she did say. But, she then vanished before I could look away.

Youtube Exclusive: The Oneflower Tribe | Luego | Credit Electric

The Oneflower Tribe

The Oneflower tribe is an alternative bohemian outfit from the Finnish archipelago of The Aland islands.

The Tribe’s eclectic vibration is intensely organic by use of acoustic instruments as well as a natural variation of percussive elements.

Here is their latest project, Instantly Outmoded.

The outfit utilizes random things from around the house in an attempt to distinguish their originality. They think this is a contributing factor to the playful and intimate sound as well.

It’s the kind of music that’s perfectly suited for the bedroom or late night meanderings of introspection.

The project was written and recorded by Johan Enblom.

Luego

Luego is the sonic brainchild of Patrick Phelan.

The project began back in 2006 in North Carolina. But in 2013, Phelan moved out to Los Angeles, to fulfill his lucid dream.

Here is Luego’s latest lo-fi work of art, “The Man”.

The arid vocals and gravely soundscape mesh in a beautiful and perfectly balanced sonic spectacle.

We hope to hear more from Luego very soon.

The album was recorded in North Carolina in June and September of 2018 under long time producer and friend, Jeff Crawford.

Credit Electric

From a very young age Credit Electric’s Ryan LoPilato wrote songs to “sing out the lightness of the things in life we find dark.”

His sound is focused around raw and improvised one take recordings of the guitar and keyboard. This process of writing has led to an outpouring of material LoPilato made into a full band ensemble.

Here is Credit Electric’s somewhat provocative, yet intensely interesting modern throwback of a track, “Because of You”.

“I try to write every day,” says LoPilato, “the (writing) process for me has always been a meditation, a place to find harmony within the suffering beauty of life. It’s something I would be doing with or without an audience.”

With quite frequent live performances, Credit Electric has been supporting an eclectic variety of touring artists such as US Girls, Japanese Breakfast and The Deep Dark Woods.

The band recorded their debut LP with producer Thom Monahan in San Francisco at Tiny Telephone and at Golden Void in LA.
