The Sixth Year

The Sixth Year is a Philadelphia-based indie alt-rock band consisting of Ryan Downs on vocals and lead guitar, Tom Amey on bass, and Andrew Brubaker on the drums.

“Chasing Ground” is infectious, a sublime manifestation of the meanderings of a young man contemplating the numerous paths one can take in life.

What is contentment? What is happiness? Does anything really matter?

I honestly don’t know.

And now, listen and dig my friends…

neek

Neek is the moniker of LA born and raised Nicole Weisberg.

Weisberg’s childhood was filled with music and art.

She then attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied music.

But after the loss of her father, Nicole went into isolation and only felt at peace when lost in the creative vapors of music. Her loss led to a subconscious transformation. And like a true stoic, she conquered the demons of solitude, found her true inner self, and arose from the ashes a stronger individual.

Neek’s debut release “but why?” questions rejection and reveals the horrors one discovers in the wilderness. The cold soundscape embodies the desolation one feels post-abandonment.

Here is—”but why?”

“In the first reflective months of panic, I kept trying to figure out why it happened and began to drive myself crazy. I couldn’t break the cycle of, why?” —Nicole Weisberg

Major of Roses

Major of Roses is the moniker of Magnus Rosell.

On his soulful “Who Could Ask For More?” Magnus advocates for a  more relaxed view of life.

If you just relax, good things will happen, he implies.

The deep booming vocals of Magnus evoke a sensual dream-state that leaves one wondering if he or she should in fact, just relax.

Jon Perkins

Originally from São Paulo, Brazil—Jon Perkins is now an independent artist based out of New York City.

His latest jam “Carousel” is an infectious mashup of Elliot Smith and Neutral Milk Hotel, but is anchored by a harder soundscape.

A chillax jam indeed.

weareforests

weareforests is the brainchild of Corey Wright, an artist out of Fort Collins, Colorado.

“Plea For Winter” is a melancholy jam fit for a lazy afternoon lounging beside a calm mountain stream.

Wright’s vocals mesh just beautifully with his guitar. This is a beautiful jam my friends.
