Only Me – Alpha Wave

Only Me is an alternative lofi project from planet earth — bringing us an experimental indie masterpiece of profound opulence from the depths of a lone broken heart.

“Alpha Wave” — a track off Only Me’s latest album “The Brighter the Sun…” is a lustrous homage to the beauty of the collective conscience. A sonic gem lost in an arid wasteland of plastic splendor and hollow tears.

Only Me spent over nine long years making the album using only vintage analog gear — and zero autotune.

The sound is an honest throwback to all those now dead and gone. A masterful collection of eclectic tracks ranging from indie dream-pop to psychedelic grunge. A transcendental breakthrough in the indie realm.

We hope to hear more from Only Me very soon!

Soundcloud Exclusive: Max C. Joseph | REW<< | Robert Connely Farr & the Rebeltone Boys

Max C. Joseph

Max C. Joseph is an emerging experimental lofi artist out of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Joseph’s latest release is a reflection of tomorrow’s shadow — a hopeful nightmare being smothered by an oppressive force of galactic magnitude.

“Formulate, I” is a track Max wrote some time back while in the depths of a desperate attempt to reset his manic mind. And, it’s absolutely beautiful…

The song is quite simply a divine journey into the inner creative workings of a truly daring explorer — a sonic pioneer of sorts — making his way to the summit of the indie Gods.

As the phoenix rises from the ashes — Max C. Joseph will also rise again and lay upon us sublime vibrations of arcane origin.

We can’t wait to hear what Max has in store for us. One can only dream.

REW<<

REW<< is the moniker of Ryan E. Weber — an experimental artist from the frigid western shores of Lake Michigan.

His track “Figure in Shadow, Figure in Light” off his latest album — Conversation Arctique — is a primitive, yet highly refined and elegant piano piece dripping with subtle drops of magical minimalism.

As one peers into the grey mist of reality’s shadow — one can only hope to pierce the darkness and gaze upon what lies beyond the abyss.

Now rest your weary mind and dream of sweeter things — for life is what you make of it.

Robert Connely Farr & the Rebeltone Boys

Robert Connely Farr is a musician from Bolton, Mississippi — currently resting his hat in Vancouver, BC.

While in Mississippi, Connely met Mississippi blues legend Jimmy “Duck” Holmes — the last of the Bentonia bluesmen. The two hit it off and ever since — Jimmy has been mentoring Connely in the Bentonia Style of the blues, a style that Holmes learned directly from Henry Stuckey — the same man who taught Skip James & Jack Owens.

Connely then teamed up with Canadian producer & acclaimed songwriter Leeroy Stagger to record an album that would eventually become known as — Dirty South Blues.

As Farr attempts to reconcile some of the more controversial elements of his beloved homeland, he must first face his own demon — the demon of loneliness.

Aaron Taos – Loneliness

“Loneliness” is a sorrowful track of optimistic hope Aaron Taos wrote as he was crossing the great divide of distraught — the existential valley of mental solitude.

The tragic tune is a fatal waltz into the lethal clutch of darkness — a sort of shallow noxious breath upon an arid plane dazzling with emerald hues of a luminous gassy glow.

“Loneliness” drips with the beautiful emotion of a solemn sadness wreaking of a sort of narcissistic sorrow.

In the midst of a self-induced depression — what seemed to help Taos cope with the psychological pain was remembering that conventional success isn’t everything.

Relationships, specifically that of his girlfriend at the time — was a shining light through a dark period — and reminded him that as important as goals seem to be, authentic connections and genuine love is the foundation of feeling okay.

Taos directed the video with his good friend, Mike Curry.

The presence of a fleeting loneliness is felt throughout the video, and is quite apparent with Taos sitting all alone playing his guitar in the forest, and later being beaten by his dual sides of personality — the light and the darkness.

Taos produced the song, and it was masterfully mixed by Andrew Sarlo.

Be sure to follow Taos on Spotify and like his latest music video now available on YouTube!

Soundcloud Exclusive: God of Love | Tru3Rivr | Festive Boat | Tjuv | Grow Native Plants!

God Of Love

Lo-fi indie outfit God of Love is made up of Cole and Chase Burnett — two psychedelic brothers from the great state of Texas.

Their latest track “Gabriel” is a nostalgic echo from the past shadows of a fading life. A reflection on the inner workings of the wandering mind — attempting to make its way through the blur of reality’s madness.

The poignant vocals of God of Love floats above a truly magnificent soundscape — sparkling with accents of lucid stardust and cosmic craftsmanship.

The sonic spectacle of this indie outfit is a trip to behold. We hope to hear more from God of Love very soon.

Tru3Rivr

“Forgotten “Time” is a new track from the upcoming debut album of Tru3rivr entitled, Late in the Day.

The intricate soundscape shines through warm fuzzy vocals of self-inflicted solitude and the eternal quest for the most ancient of all truisms.

The track maintains a relaxed feeling throughout with silky melodies over a primitive beat — and a piano solo that evolves into a long meandering journey of self-reflection and the quest for inner peace.

Take the trip and travel to a place now long forgotten. A place in possession of the truth — the hidden chamber of the eternal secret.

Festive Boat

Festive Boat is the experimental DIY indie-pop bedroom project of Nicole Roman-Johnston.

After having served as the sole female member of several indie bands, Nicole has finally set sail toward finding her very own sound using her laptop, wifi, and the lonely instruments strewn about the floor of her bedroom studio.

The sound of Festive Boat muddies the warm waters of analog and digital, lo-fi and complex, lighthearted and inquisitive. A heartfelt indie-pop ballad driven by a winsome guitar, a chorus of lovely juvenile vocals, a vintage drum machine, and experimental measures one can only achieve in the solace and comfort of the bedroom studio.

New Festive Boat projects are on the Horizon — so stay tuned!

Tjuv

Formed back in 2012, Österlen-based Tjuv is a fusion of 70s and 90s indie with a bit of 80s electro influence.

Old friends who connected again by chance — songwriters Martin Svensson and Peter Anthonsson eventually joined up with drummer Anders Persson and keyboardist Anders Thoren from Wildie and then went on to recruit Martin Tell for his signature subterranean basslines…

Utilizing a fair amount of vocal harmonies and rambling, dreamlike melodies deriving as much from Americana as from their Swedish roots — Tjuv is now a more complex and complete organism — larger than any one part of its separate entities.

Tjuv´s debut album was recorded and mixed at the old school studio in Äsperöd and in Seved, Malmö by Tjuv and Wildie member, Rasmus Svensson.

Grow Native Plants!

Grow Native Plants! is an experimental indie outfit from planet earth who wants you to support your local habitats and creatures of the forest by exclusively growing native flowers and other plants.

Their track “Catchin Air (Blue Moon Sea-shine)” is a rhythmic meditation on a fragile thing lost long ago.

Exotic plants — if planted in the wild — wreak havoc on the native environment and oftentimes eradicate sensitive ecosystems. The same goes for many exotic animals released into the wild.

Think before you plant or release any type of exotic organism.

YouTube Exclusive: MaidaVale | S3LF | FUR | Los Shadows

MaidaVale

MaidaVale is a female fueled indie post-rock band out of Stockholm, Sweden.

Their latest rugged grunge-diamond, “Gold Mind” — performed at Tapetown studios in Aarhus, in October of 2018 — is an underground gem reminiscent of an iridescent scene lost in the shadows of a never-ending psychedelic carnival gone beautifully awry.

The arid track is taken from MaidaVale’s second album — Madness Is Too Pure — which was released in 2018 on the reputable, The Sign Records.

The album was produced by the creative mastermind — Jari Haapalainen.

S3LF

S3lf — an outside of the box artist out of California — is a product of the headnod era.

“The heart of the music is created from a standpoint of observation written about a man finding his way in life. Let a brotha breathe.” — S3lf

In our lowly opinion — S3lf & PLCMNT make for a fabulously explosive collaborative force on the artistically inclined track, “High”. It’s a match made in the celestial heavens of the cosmos — a beautiful addition to the alternative world of conscious lo-fi hip-hop.

FUR

“FUR” is the glorious debut EP of Brighton-based quartet FUR.

The EP is a collection of tender — nostalgia-inducing yet disgustingly fresh sounding songs from an outfit truly coming into their own.

Formed just over three years ago after frontman Murray met guitarist Harry in an online forum during their university years — the duo instantly began writing songs upon meeting, and the rest is history. “I was very aware that going to a place like Brighton would definitely allow you to do the band thing,” explains the singer. “So when me and Harry met each other we thought, let’s get it started as soon as possible so we’re not wasting time.”

With bassist Tav and drummer Flynn soon finishing out the line up — waste time they did not. Last fall’s “If You Know That I’m Lonley” is a solid testament to that. With only a camera and a £100 budget, the group headed to the rural woods of New Forest to shoot the music video for the aforementioned single.

After the shoot, and over 3.6 millions YouTube hits later, the band has landed slots with the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Miles Kane, and Matt Maltese. Stay tuned.

Los Shadows

Los Shadows embrace their cross border roots on “Laugh Now Cry Later” — a gritty, Chicano flavored track encompassing the entanglements of love and the ambiguity of being naive and perpetually vulnerable whilst in the midst of a state of total blissful ignorance.

The Real Los Shadows of Nasty City, USA — feel the cosmic connection on their delightful new track “Laugh Now Cry Later” and dish out an experimental explosion radiating with faded hints of moon dust and after dinner cocktails. A delightful track to lose oneself in.

Indulge with an ease of moderation my friend.
